Session Dribble

A portrait session with K9 Photography is a journey from start to finish.  I take this journey with you for a reason.  We all have a camera or access to one.  We will all take hundreds of pictures of our kids, our dogs, our parents, throughout our life.  I know because I have hundreds of pictures sitting in drawers and boxes.

The journey you and I will take, as your photographer, will be one that captures YOU with your kids, YOU with your animals, YOU with your parents.  You allow me to share in your life for a couple of hours capturing a moment in time that was full of love and I thank you for choosing me as your photographer.

I have set out below the process from start to finish.

Pre Shoot Buzz Session

This can be done either here at my studio or via telephone.  If you come to my studio you can BRING YOUR POOCH!   I love that.  Max does too.  It actually gives me a chance to meet your dog and get to know his or her personality before I shoot.  You also have an opportunity to look at my beautiful products.

During this session I want to hear everything about you and your animals.  How many do you have? How old are they? What breed are they? Did you rescue them?   I want to hear about your relationship with them, where you like to hang out on the weekends for example do they love the beach or are they couch potatoes?  I will discuss with you how your shoot will be styled.  I want your shoot to be relevant to you as this is a lifetime investment and you want to be in love with your images 10 years from now.  I will talk to you about locations, what to wear and what to bring.  I will also ask you about any health issues your dogs may have or if they are terminal making sure I get to see you and your precious one as as a matter of priority.  I also want to know if we need more than one photographer on the day.  5 dogs, 3 kids, 2 grandparents, you and your parter could be a handful!

Shooting Time

Your pets don’t know they are on a photoshoot.  As far as they are aware, they are on an outing at the park, the beach or the country and there are lots of great things to see and smell and play with.  Just like kids, they are easily distracted.  I usually allow up to 2 hours of shooting time to give them time to play, relax and sit with you when required.  They never do what you think they are going to do and that is normal.  I don’t expect them to and neither should you.   I allow them to just be themselves.  Once they have my trust (and my treats) that’s when the magic happens.   I sometimes go over the 2 hours depending on the age or temperament of your pet.

Puppies under the age of 16 weeks can be very inquisitive and exuberant and then crash and burn.  They might run around for half an hour then need a nap just like babies!

Seniors may have health issues, they might be a bit arthritic or have heart problems and I take all of these things into consideration whilst on location.  It might take them a little longer to get around and moving from one place to another could be slow.  I wouldn’t advise taking an arthritic dog to the beach, they might find it difficult to walk in the sand and it could be painful for their hips.

It’s all about fun! We want this experience to be memorable.

Photographer’s time, creativity and expertise

Photographing people with their pets is my craft and full time job.  I have studied photography and hold a Cert IV in photo-imaging.  I am passionate about creating beautiful images and giving you amazing products that you will treasure for the rest of your life.  All my products are Australian made and I am very proud to support industry suppliers in this country.

I am working with you from the moment we have our buzz session to the moment you see  your products.  So it’s not just a two hour session where I click away. Let me break it down for you.  It’s time spent talking to you, travelling, shooting, uploading and sorting, post production, viewing and blogging.

Creatively I am always looking for fun ways to bring something different and unique to your photo session.  I have collected many gorgeous props along the way.  I don’t always use them but find them useful for various reasons.  If you have seen something that you like that I have used in a previous shoot, let me know and Ill bring it with me.

Your images are processed and retouched for you to view at your investment session

This is where the fun starts and all the creative juices flow so that your end product will have the WOW factor!!!

All your images from your session are sorted and processed in photoshop.  I sit up at night in front of my computer loving every single one of your images.  I want you to love them too!  Blemishes and redness on your skin are removed, dirt in the corner of your dogs eyes are removed, yellow stains around your dogs mouth are lightened, teeth are whitened, leads and some harnesses are removed, colours are popped, images are sparkled, your pictures are not what comes out of my camera!  They become works of art!

Investment Session (Allow up to 2 hours)

I can’t wait for you to see your images and I know you can’t either.  Your investment session is so exciting.  Your images are presented to you firstly in a slideshow with a backing track.  Don’t worry I have tissues on standby and they are usually for me! I can honestly say that there is not one viewing session I have had with my clients where I don’t shed a tear.  I can’t help it.  We usually watch it a couple of times in case you missed something whilst you were blowing your nose.

We then go through your proofs and together select the images you LOVE!  This takes time.

Why does it take up to 2 hours?  It can take up to 2 hours because we look at all of our products and we work out together ways for you to have what you want.  You might like to have an album keeping 20 of your favourite images and hanging a collection on the wall.  You might want to hang a collection in a couple of rooms.  It’s a process, it takes time and you don’t want to rush it.  I love this process and I don’t try to hurry you along.

I always recommend bringing along your partner if he or she helps you make the decisions in the house.  It’s always a good idea to get a second opinion when you are making big financial decisions.

Once you have carefully selected your images and products, a 4o% deposit is required for me to go into production mode.  The balance of your payment is required on the day you collect your products.  I accept all major credit cards.

Albums can take up to 20 working days and wall art can take up to 10 working days.

Take Home Layby

K9 Photography offers take home lay-by via a third party company which allows you to pay off your products over 6, 12 or 18 months depending on the amount you spend.  This is only available for purchases over $1,000.

Wall art collections start at approximately $22 per week over 12 months.  That’s almost a coffee a day!   We want you to have your images and try to make it as easy as possible for you.
